ongoing strategic foundation partners
CPCA is extremely appreciative of the ongoing strong and loyal support from California’s health care foundations, which understand and recognize the value of not only maintaining but also strengthening the safety net. Notable among these strategic foundation partners are the Blue Shield of California Foundation, California HealthCare Foundation, CCI/Tides Foundation, Kaiser Permanente Community Benefits, The California Endowment, and The California Wellness Foundation.
The Blue Shield of California Foundation (BSCF) has been a consistent partner of CPCA since 2004, and funding from BSCF supports CPCA’s Annual Conference and core programmatic activities to support CHCs with clinical and financial operations, patient experience and engagement, and data management and analysis.
Funding from the California HealthCare Foundation (CHCF) has supported CPCA for the Accelerating Quality Improvement through Collaboration (AQIC), an innovative statewide Quality Improvement (QI) initiative to spread the collection and use of clinical data measures for patients with diabetes through electronic data reporting, and efforts to implement a sustainable Technical Assistance (TA) model for safety net dental practices.
CPCA has received support from CCI/Tides Foundation for a variety of projects, including work to explore, develop, and pilot alternative payment models for CHCs and efforts to better integrate best practices in behavioral health with primary care services. In addition, a multi-year grant from CCI/Tides in 2003 supported additional development and expansion of our training program.
CPCA benefits from core funding from both the Northern and Southern California Kaiser Permanente Community Benefits programs to support activities to ensure that CHCs thrive in the ever-evolving context of health delivery system transformation. In addition, Kaiser has been a consistent sponsor of the CPCA Annual Conference, and in 2012, Kaiser announced a new two-year award to support development and implementation of CPCA’s Patient-Centered Health Home (PCHH) Initiative to help transform care delivery within California’s CHCs.
Ongoing funding from The California Endowment (TCE) supports health centers, healthy communities, the Regional Associations of California, CPCA’s policy and advocacy efforts, and our Annual Conference. In 2012, TCE and CPCA established a significant new partnership to support statewide communication, education, and outreach efforts around CaliforniaHealth+ with the goal of positioning CHCs as the preferred place to access coverage and care, especially for California’s large Latino population.
The California Wellness Foundation (TCWF) was one of the first foundations to offer core support to health centers and to the Regional Associations of California. Funding from TCWF has provided core support for CPCA’s public policy, organizational strategic planning, and capacity-building building efforts, and for many years, TCWF also provided core support to the Oral Health Access Council (OHAC) to help improve the oral health of California’s underserved and vulnerable populations.
CPCA’s strength and evolution are a direct result of the support we’ve received over the past 25 years from our grant-making partners. We honor and recognize their significant contributions to CPCA on the occasion of our 25th anniversary celebration.
